DESMOND Australia at the 2016 ADEA-WA Branch Conference
DESMOND Australia presented the abstract DESMOND – The link between knowledge and action at the 2016 Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA)-WA Branch Conference earlier this month. The state conference was held in New Norcia on 6-7 May. This year’s theme was about creating links – discovering ways to meet the demands and resolve the gaps in diabetes.
DESMOND – The link between knowledge and action provided an insight into the evaluation of the DESMOND program in Australia post 2014. Results showed that participants were highly satisfied with the program and after attending had a greater understanding of their diabetes. Both quantitative and qualitative results show the program, and the educators who deliver it, play an integral role in providing diabetes education and self-management skills to people with type 2 diabetes.
